The diesel engine has become the most practical and reliable means to solving the problem of vehicles and construction resources due to the diesel engines’ characteristics like high torque, long service life, low fuel consumption and low emission, etc. Therefore, the diesel engine is more and more frequently adopted. But at the same time, there is higher requirements on the diesel engines in the aspect of power performance, economic performance, the control of exhaust emission and noise pollution.

The above demands can not be met if the diesel engines still rely on the traditional mechanically controlled fuel injection system, and the requirements of fuel injection amount, injection pressure and injection timing completely according to the best operation are difficult to achieved.

With the rapid development of computer technology, sensor technology and information technology recently, diesel engines can reach the needs of electronic control in the reliability, cost and volume of electronic products, and it is quite easy to finish electronically controlled fuel injection.

In fact, the diesel engine discharge much less CO and HC than the gasoline engine, with discharging almost same NOX amount , but more particles compared with the gasoline engine, which is concerned with the combustion theory of diesel engine. The diesel engine does not belong to homogeneous combustion, and the combustible mixed air is formed at short time, its process of forming and combustion being intersected.

The conclusion can be reached out through analyzing the rule of the diesel engine’s fuel injection as follows: the development of combustion process and the production of harmful effluents can be directly affected by the nebulization quality, air flow in the cylinder and the shape of combustion chamber. The emission can be effectively improved a lot by increasing the injection pressure, enhancing the fuel nebulization effect, using pilot injection and split injection.
